Mais où sont les neiges d'antan?

Here's a calligram by Saitō Haruo 斎藤春夫, entitled "Draft for a missing persons newspaper notice":

Roughly:

MISSING

The
SNOWS
of yesteryear

Please contact:
SPRING

Popularity factor: 9

無名酒:

Yesteryear snows, please call your office.

L.N. Hammer:

Paging M. Villon. M. Villon, please pick up a white courtesy phone.

Matt:

"Ascend the white courtesy gallows," shurely?

L.N. Hammer:

Heh.

(BTW, this post is showing up as with 0 comments off the main page -- even when I reset the cache. Something hinky in the wiring?)

Matt:

Yeah, I have no idea why that happens sometimes. It must have to do with colons, though. It should reset when I rebuild the page...

L.N. Hammer:

Much of the virtual world is dependent on colons and semicolons, and hostage to their continued good behavior.

Matt:

Aw, now the number's wrong again.

All fields optional. E-mail address will never be displayed, resold, etc. -- it's just a quick way to give me your e-mail address along with your comment, if you should feel the need. URL will be published, though, so don't enter it if it's a secret. You can use <a href>, but most other tags will be filtered out. (I'll fix it in post-production for you if it seems necessary.)
