More on Portuguese romanization

Coming from the city of brotherly love, James has posted a translation of the pronunciation-related bits of Diego COLLADO's Ars grammaticae Iaponicae linguae. This is my favorite part:

When tç is in a word, which is quite often, a student should beg God to reveal their talent in pronunciation...

Popularity factor: 3

language:

I used to do that. When I studied languages, I would pray long and hard for God to reveal to me their pronunciation. Then I decided there was no God. If there were, those Poles wouldn't have sneered at me when I tried to pronounce y.

Matt:

It seems particularly pointless to pray to God for help with Japanese, since as we all know, it was created by the devil specifically to hinder missionaries in their attempts to spread the Good News to its speakers.

IbaDaiRon:

Go, Devil!
