Seems reasonable enough. It does provide a rather smaller target than... whatever it was before, though. (I always click on them to read the comments, having finally managed to train myself out of clicking the "comments" link.)

The comments link, she is no good?

I'm not entirely happy with the current setup either (the | should at least be sequestered in CSS or something). Hopefully I'll figure out something better... soon.

The "n comments" link, in Blogger, takes you to the "post a comment" page. Which isn't, in my view, the best place to read comments - it doesn't show the original post by default, and even if you turn it on it loses any images. And half the screen's taken up by the comment-entry paraphernalia. (On the other hand, it shows those little Blogger identity icons next to comments from people who have them.)
