I got so carried away with mammal fever

that I drew a comic strip about it in Japanese.

Popularity factor: 8

butterflyblue:

Your comic strip is very educational. I'm going to post it on my desk at school for the edification of nearby teachers.

butterflyblue:

Is the "Matsu" at the end your signature?

Matt:

Yeah, it's kind of an in-joke that got out of hand with some other friends whose names can be (kind of) written with one character. But I like it -- it's a neat and tidy way to sign things.

Aaron:

Could you translate that for us Japanese-challenged readers?

Matt:

OK, here you go:

THE CRETACEOUS PERIOD

-- Ha ha ha! We dinosaurs sure did a good job conquering the world.
-- Wait!

/

(Buuurn..)

-- This ends here, lizard!
-- Wha--?! A mammal??

/

-- WARM-BLOODED RAGE!
-- Gaaa!!

/

AND SO

-- Are you sure it's OK to kill all of them?
-- Ha ha ha! Of course it is! That's evolution!

justin:

Love the comic. Wondering, do you know the They Might Be Giants tune "mammal"?

"A glass of milk
standning inbetween
extinction in the cold
and explosive, radiating
growth."

Kitto:

-- Are you sure it's OK to kill all of them?
-- Ha ha ha! Of course it is! That's evolution!

I'd be sure to pick up the Motion Picture rights to that if I were you, and then jack it on over to Mr. Spielberg's house with some sort of "Jurassic Park" prequel pitch. Go on, you know you want to. :-)

Matt:

Oh, that'd be awesome. "Gentlemen, the only way to kill these dinosaurs once and for all... is by cloning ancient mammals to hunt them down!"

And then the mammals can evolve into a different species of human on the island, and it'll get all morally complex.

Justin: I hadn't heard that song, but I have now. Perfect for the soundtrack.
